User guide
Follow these steps to get the best protection and comfort from your MUTE earplugs.
Reach over your head and gently pull the top of your ear upward. This straightens your ear canal and makes insertion much easier and more comfortable.
Using two fingers, push the ear tip into your ear canal. Twist it gently inward until it sits securely at the base of your ear without protruding.
The earplug should sit flush in your ear — not sticking out, not visible from the front. Ambient sounds should become noticeably muffled when sealed correctly.
Most adults find Medium the ideal starting size. Insert the M tip, test the comfort and seal, and use it as your reference point.
If the earplug doesn't feel secure, keeps slipping, or noise protection seems weak, switch to L. A proper seal is critical for maximum noise reduction.
If the earplug sticks out, causes pressure, or feels uncomfortable, try S or XS. Using different sizes in each ear is perfectly normal.
Hold the earplug body firmly and pull the silicone ear tip straight off. Avoid sharp objects or excessive force to prevent damage.
Line up the opening of the new ear tip with the stem of the earplug. Centre it evenly before pushing it on.
Press the ear tip firmly onto the stem until it clicks securely. Give it a gentle tug to confirm it's fully attached.
Always detach the silicone ear tips before cleaning. This prevents moisture from entering the earplug stem.
Submerge only the silicone ear tips in clean water and wipe gently with a soft cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or soap.
Allow ear tips to air dry completely before reattaching them to your MUTE earplugs.
MUTE includes a compact carry case. Storing your earplugs inside protects them from dust, lint, and damage.
The carry case is small enough to clip onto a bag or slip into any pocket — so your MUTE earplugs are always within reach.
Keep earplugs away from extreme heat, direct sunlight, and dusty environments to extend the life of your MUTE earplugs.
Sizing guide
MUTE includes 4 ear tip sizes. A correct fit means better noise reduction, better comfort, and all-day wearability.
| Size | Best suited for | Signs of a good fit | What to try next |
|---|---|---|---|
| L — Large | Larger ear canals | Sits fully flush, no movement | Try M if it causes pressure |
| M — Medium | Most adults (start here) | Comfortable seal, muffled ambient sound | Go L if loose, S if tight |
| S — Small | Smaller ear canals | Snug, flush, and low-profile | Try XS if any discomfort remains |
| XS — Extra Small | Very small ear canals | Barely visible, fully comfortable | Go S if it feels too small |
Why it matters
Noise-induced hearing loss is permanent — and entirely preventable. These are the facts.
Airplane cabin noise averages 85dB — the threshold for hearing damage. Long-haul flights without protection stress your ears and cause fatigue, headaches, and cumulative damage.
Live music venues regularly hit 100–120dB. At 110dB, hearing damage begins in under 2 minutes. Earplugs let you enjoy the experience without the risk.
Research links poor sleep from noise to increased cortisol, reduced immunity, and cognitive decline. A quiet sleep environment is one of the highest-ROI health habits you can build.
Noise in open-plan offices reduces individual productivity by up to 66% (Cornell University). Blocking ambient noise is the fastest way to reclaim concentration and reduce cognitive fatigue.
Support
Yes. MUTE is built for long-term use. With proper care and cleaning, the hearing protection life exceeds 5 years. Wipe the earplug body with a damp cloth and wash the silicone tips in water regularly.
Absolutely — MUTE is specifically designed with sleep comfort in mind. The low-profile, flush fit means the earplug sits entirely inside your ear, making it comfortable for side sleepers. Start with the smallest comfortable size for the most discreet, sleep-friendly fit.
SNR (Single Number Rating) is the European standard measure of how much sound an earplug reduces. An SNR of 25dB means MUTE reduces the perceived noise by approximately 25 decibels — enough to bring a loud concert from 110dB down to a safe ~84dB, well below the damage threshold.
Start with Medium (M). If the earplug feels loose or keeps coming out, move up to Large (L). If it sticks out or causes discomfort, try Small (S) or Extra Small (XS). The correct size sits flush in your ear and makes ambient sounds feel noticeably muffled.
Remove the silicone ear tips and submerge them in clean water, wiping gently with a soft cloth. Allow them to dry fully before reattaching. Clean the earplug body only with a lightly damp cloth — never submerge it. Avoid harsh chemicals and sharp objects.
With proper care, MUTE earplugs are engineered for a hearing protection life of more than 5 years. Inspect the ear tips regularly and replace them if you notice any cracking, tearing, or deformation.
